My 18 month old!

18 month well child went great! She is a happy, healthy 1 1/2 year old!
  • Weighed 22 lbs 2 ounces (10-25th percentile)
  • 32 1/2 inches tall (75th percentile)
Her doctor stated she is "very active" (like I didn't know already) as she is destroying the room and I am literally sweating trying to listen and keep her safe!

She can say with purpose:
  • dadoggie (doggie): All. The. Time. In reference to anything that isn't human (bird, flower, the moon, and of course dogs!).
  • But-n (button): Belly button. She says this almost as much as doggie. And has no shame in shows mine to complete strangers.
  • Daba (baby): in reference to any child (young or old) and herself
  • Diapur (diaper)
  • Thar (star)
  • Gin (again): usually when daddy is tickling her
  • Bye: whenever she is ready to leave or is play talking on the phone; never to actually say goodbye to me or anyone else
  • Ball: anything sphere shaped
  • Cheeeese: in reference to a camera, not the food
  • She also occasionally says cat, square and duck, but only if she's in the mood.
  • Says many other things I have yet to decipher.
She understands more than I can even imagine and it grows everyday. I’m starting to have to be careful with what I say. Bath, outside and eating are hot topics around our house. She knows what each one means and I must be ready to do whatever has been said or a meltdown will soon follow.

Lammy is still her best friend and he goes pretty much everywhere she goes, and sometimes places that she doesn’t (like out the doggie door into the dirt, in the trashcan and into the shower Daddy was taking). He also eats everything she eats and drinks everything she drinks! Thank gosh he is machine washable!

She is wearing mostly 18 month clothes and pajamas (mainly for length). My new love in life is adjustable waist jeans. Whoever invented them must have had a tall skinny child like mine! Genius I tell ya. She’s also wearing size 5 shoes.

She sleeps about 12 hours at night and takes one (1 ½ - 2 ½ hr) nap a day.

She’s a monkey. A mountain goat.  A climber. On anything. Everything in our house is locked down with either bungee cords, actual latches or gates or just hidden away. It’s a little ridiculous. Visitors can’t figure out how to sit at our dining room table. I swear she could scale a wall if she wanted. Anytime she figures out how to climb on something she knows she shouldn’t I hear her squeal with delight from wherever she is doing said climbing. And she always waits until I leave the room for laundry or an actual bathroom break by myself (gasp!).

I feel my attempt at 18 month pictures was a complete fail. This was the best one of her pulling the hair off the monkey's head and throwing her shoe at me. My dear friend April, promised to take some this weekend, so hopefully I'll be posting new ones sometime soon!

What she's been up to...

Petting goats

Helping Daddy with his tan

Giving kisses

And more kisses

Helping Daddy with the cabinet latches

More helping

More smiling

Looking cool

And just hanging around!

And now we're off to enjoy our last week of summer break before school starts.

Around here...

Around our house its always a little crazy.
With a in-to-everything toddler you never know what will happen next.
Like eating a dead june bug and then giving you a look like "Why did you let me do that... that thing tasted awful!"

She is slowly learning the word "NO." Slowly, being the keyword in that sentence. But we are having a lot of fun in the mean time. We've been swimming, playing in the sprinkler, eating lots of Orange Leaf, visiting the dogs approximately 100 times a day, and have eaten even more sidewalk chalk. She had her 2nd visit to the Bixby Green Corn Festival, where she ate some, you guessed it, corn and made the 6 o'clock news! I sense a TV star my daughter will be!

But before all of this, she was really sick with Roseola. Its a short virus characterized by a high fever for 3-4 days followed up by a rash for 3 days. She felt pretty miserable and mommy felt awful for her. She normally looks like this:

But looked like this for about 3 days. No smiles at all. Just a puffy, itchy rash all over her body. Which was made worse with activity or heat, so it was pleasant being trapped inside for 3 days because it was soooo stinkin hot out. But we made it through with lots of ibuprofen, oatmeal baths, snuggles and kisses!

She's all healed up and ready for a long 4th of July weekend with her mommy and daddy. Hopefully the fireworks don't scare her and we can stay cool!!!!

My 12+ month old!

12 months stats:

29 inches (up from 28 1/4 @ 9 months)

17 lbs, 15 oz at the first visit. Since that was only up 3 oz from her 9 month weight and only in the 5th percentile we had a re-check on her weight and ears a month later. 18 lbs, 15 oz at the second visit.

Recent happenings:

Says with purpose: mama, dada, tata (our dog).
She also points and says something that favors that of a female cave girl/woman.

She is the proud owner of 5 teeth. And loves to show them off with that adorable smile!

She walks, jabbers, drinks milk, destroys anything made of paper, loves shoes, bath time, books, baby wipes and qtips. She also loves to go outside, ride her bike with Daddy, play with the waterhose/sprinkler, play (eat) sidewalk chalk, throw (eat) gravel, collect (eat) acorns and leaves.

Wears a mixture of 6-12, 9, and 12 month clothes depending on the brand. Wears mostly 12 month pjs and size 3 shoes

Sleeps about 12 hours at night. Going to bed between 7:30 and 8:30 and waking about 8 to 8:30. She still takes usually two naps a day for about 1.5 hours a piece, although she can power through and make it on one nap if need be.

Eats everything and frequently. Bananas, blueberries, mango, corn-on-the-cob, green beans, carrots, chicken, cheese, yogurt, applesauce (the squeeze kind), goldfish, animal crackers, pancakes and anything I'm eating tend to be her favorites.

Eating a banana. Ellis style.

A little bike riding with Dada.

Ellis is ONE.
Her birthday was April 12th.
Yes, I'm a little behind on my blogging.

She wanted to party hard at her house.
With lots of friends and family.
And a whole lotta food.

I made her little smash cake.

And 4 dozen cupcakes.

She wasn't a fan of the party hat.

She loved her cake.
I think she got the idea.

Post cake bath.
Sharing the icing love with mama.

Everyone had a lot of fun.

The betrothed one year olds.
Andy trying to redeem himself.
He gave awful, dirty looks to E at his birthday party.

Cousins and friends.
Played bubbles, treasure hunt, and chalk.

In our very flat, huge backyard.

Love from Mommy and Daddy!
Happy 1st Birthday Swweeeeeeeeet Baby Ellis!
